Brothers, I seek a sustainable approach to fitness, nutrition and feeling “whole” for the 2nd half of my life. I want to feel great, look my best, keep getting happier, and live long. You too? If so, I hope OlderBeast helps, with practical advice and actionable philosophy (plus some humor and classic rock/movie references to help it all work).
Come here for ideas on how and why to blend endurance sports, strength & conditioning, getting outdoors, and yoga (yes, yoga). For non-redundant perspectives on nutrition and coping with injury or conditions. And, for a little non-preachy encouragement for using physicality to help realize joy in your life.
I’m Mark Teitell, and I appreciate you being here. If you see me on the street, you won’t think “wow, look at how built that guy is!”…and I don’t have a degree in sports physiology, nutrition or psychology. I’m a regular guy with a wife and two kids and a house in the suburbs…but I work hard to take care of myself, and I think and learn obsessively about topics you’ll find here.
In the early 2000’s, I was 15 pounds overweight, highly-stressed, and on an unhealthy trajectory. I got inspired to change that, and over these years I’ve continuously experimented with and refined the fitness and nutrition things I write about here. And at a mental and spiritual level, I’ve increasingly realized the connection between physicality and being at my best and happiest in all phases of life.
Based on that, and with thriving in mind for all of us, I hope OlderBeast can be of service.
